NB: The following FAQs relate to the 2011 MMAD Conference. Got a question about 2012? Email aaa@mmad.org.au.
How do I get on the Showcase Stage?
Keep checking the Conference Program for the different Showcase times and make sure you put your name down at Conference to showcase in front of each VIP panel - spots are limited, so get in quick!
Tips: Keep your performance simple and quick, be prepared & professional, and go for an acoustic performance over full band, otherwise your time will be cut REALLY short because of set up time.
Performers registered (register on the day) for the Showcase session will have an opportunity to perform up to 1 song either acoustically, or a capella or backing track
You may play a pre-recorded original song from CD instead of performing live, however you MUST have the CD on hand with the track ready to go.
Registered showcase performers cannot select both options… it’s either live acoustic/a capella performance, or pre-recorded track only.
*NOTE Panel may stop your performance at any time to offer feedback. If you miss your timeslot, or you are late, you may miss out altogether… make sure you keep track of time!
How do I get a free photoshoot?
You can book yourself in on Saturday morning at the Photography Stall for your Photoshoot (delegates with full conference passes only). It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be early for your session time… no one will be there to remind you. If you are late, or forget to turn up at your scheduled time, you will probably miss out all together!
Time slots will be at 10 minutes per shoot, and no longer. If you want to have your make up touched up by our professional artist, be at your shoot at least 1/2 hour early (1.5 hours early for bands or groups), bring your own make up and have your foundation already applied.
Note: Our professinal Make Up Artist will touch up your mascara, lip gloss, blush & eyeshadow only. For hygeine reasons, please remember to bring your own make up.
Question? Email aaa@mmad.org.au.
Can I keep my photos, and what should I bring?
Your raw, digital photos will be free and you can download them after your shoot onto your memory stick!
You may like to bring a change of clothes for your shoot, but remember that your belongings are your own responsibility and you’ll have to look after them.
To ensure that everyone gets the maximum amount of time possible during their Photoshoot, have your memory stick ready to go, with lots of free space on it. If you lose your photos, you’ll be charged to get a second copy.
Photoshop, print and postage can be organised with our photographer at a cost. Please discuss with the Photographer on the day.
How do I get on the Open Mic Stage?
Be in the Sound Lounge during Open Mic sessions for your chance to perform!
Does the registration cost include both days and masterclasses?
Full Registration includes all seminars, masterclasses, performing opportunities, access to info stalls, showcase stage & networking areas. How awesome!
Day One of Conference is now SOLD OUT. Day 2 daypasses are available for $245 by emailing aaa@mmad.org.au. The Seymour Box office is now closed.
I write songs, but I dont perform them, are there still opportunities for me?
Yes, there’ll be heaps of information and workshops for you at AAA! You may even meet people that you can co-write with, collaborate with and join forces with to reach stardom!
One lucky songwriter or performer will be awarded a free ticket to the Australia’s Songwriters Conference to be held between 10th-13th June 2011. The recipient will be chosen by MMAD and MMAD’s decision is final.
I’m only a beginner, should I still come?
Sure should! You’ll learn heaps, you’ll be really inspired to learn more and you’ll meet lots of like minded people. You can learn at your own pace… take in whatever you can at AAA and if something’s a little difficult, you can move to a different workshop/session of the Conference.
How old do you have to be to go to MMAD Conference?
You must be at least 13 and can be as old as you like! (Delegates between 13 & 16 years should be accompanied by an adult delegate).
All delegates who have registered & entered the Conference must agree to the T&Cs on the Get Yout Pass & FAQs page of this site. T&C signs will be up at the registration desks of Conference prior to entry.
How can I help to promote AAA?
Help by promoting AAA on facebook, Twitter, through your email database, at schools, music venues, dance schools and in local shop windows. Want some posters sent to you to help advertise? Email aaa@mmad.org.au. Thank you!
Is this conference just for unsigned artists?
